The Chief Liaison Officer of the Abia State Liaison Office, Abuja, Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa, has underscored the importance of preserving institutional memory as a strategic tool for national development, good governance, and stronger security architecture.

Hon. Chinasa made the remark while representing the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti OFR, at the official presentation of two biographies authored by Former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Usman Alkali Baba, in Abuja.

The event, which gathered intellectuals, retired security chiefs, public administrators, and statesmen, marked the unveiling of the books “Giant Footprints” and “A Policeman Personified.” The publications document Alkali Baba’s decades of professional service, leadership evolution, and his contributions to policing and national security reform.

Speaking on behalf of the governor, Hon. Chinasa praised the former IGP for not only serving the nation with distinction but also taking the extra step to document his experiences for posterity. He emphasized that countries that achieve sustainable progress are those that deliberately preserve institutional memory, ensuring that future leaders can learn from the successes, failures, and wisdom of those who came before them.

According to him, Alkali Baba’s decision to chronicle his professional journey creates a valuable knowledge bank for young officers, policymakers, and security professionals who aspire to strengthen Nigeria’s policing system.

The ceremony drew notable figures, including former Inspector General of Police Mr. Sunday Ehindaro, top military veterans, senior officers, and policy experts. They commended Alkali Baba for his leadership style, service to the country, and commitment to leaving behind documented lessons that will enrich the nation’s institutional archives.

Hon. Chinasa reaffirmed the Otti administration’s commitment to excellence, transparency, and institutional strengthening, noting that Abia State supports initiatives that preserve knowledge and celebrate men and women whose contributions advance nation-building.
