Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa has visited the family of late Akobundu Okorie, assuring them that justice will be served over the tragic incident linked to police interrogation. Read what he told the grieving family and the steps government is taking.
Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa, the Chief Liaison Officer of the Abia State Liaison Office in Abuja, has assured the family of late Akobundu Wisdom Okorie that justice will be pursued to the fullest following the young man’s tragic death after an alleged interrogation at the Bende Divisional Police Command.
During a solemn condolence visit to the Okorie family on Wednesday, Hon. Chinasa described the late Wisdom as “an easygoing, respectful, and peace-loving young man whose good nature earned him admiration from all who crossed his path.”
The incident, which has sparked widespread concern across Bende LGA and beyond, has raised serious questions about police conduct and the circumstances that led to the young man’s sudden demise. Although investigations are still ongoing, the family insists that Wisdom’s death was linked to the alleged interrogation at the police station — a claim that has intensified calls for accountability.
Speaking with deep emotion, Hon. Chinasa assured the family that the Abia State Government would not allow the matter to be swept under the carpet.
He noted that the government has zero tolerance for any form of abuse or misconduct, stressing that the truth must be established and appropriate action taken.
Hon. Chinasa was accompanied by a strong delegation of community and political leaders, including Hon. Emma Nwankwo, Councillor representing Bende Ward; Hon. Okechukwu Ochiobi; Hon. Ebenezer Chukwuemeka Kanu, Supervisor for Finance, Bende LGA; Mr. Chukwuemeka Ndukwe; and the Labour Party Ward Chairman.
Their presence, according to the family, offered a small measure of comfort and reaffirmed their hope that justice will be served.
As investigations continue, the people of Bende await answers and justice for the late Akobundu Wisdom.
