… Governor Otti exposes a shocking attempt by local politicians to frustrate development, vows to continue delivering roads that connect communities despite sabotage.
Governor Alex Chioma Otti of Abia State has revealed how some politicians from the state allegedly made desperate attempts to frustrate the approval of the 25-kilometre Umuahia– Ikot Ekpene federal road project.
Speaking live during his monthly interaction session, monitored by All Facts Newspaper, Governor Otti expressed disappointment that some individuals, including politicians from Abia, worked behind the scenes to stop the federal government from granting approval for the project.
According to the Governor, “We know some people wanted to scuttle it. They didn’t want the approval to be given. And some of them are also from Abia. The question is — you don’t want the road that passes your father’s house to be built? Then where lies your patriotism?”
Despite the political sabotage, Otti confirmed that his administration successfully secured approval from the Federal Ministry of Works to reconstruct the road, which has been in deplorable condition for years.
The Governor announced that the official flag-off ceremony of the 25km Umuahia- Ikot Ekpene Road would take place on Friday, October 24, alongside others.
He further disclosed other major road contracts recently awarded by his administration.
Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rebuilding Abia State without discrimination, emphasizing that no amount of blackmail or political sabotage will stop his vision of a new, connected, and prosperous Abia.
“We will continue to work for our people. Those who tried to stop us only exposed their lack of love for Abia. But in the end, the approval came, and the work will speak for itself,” Otti declared.
