In a move that underscores growing collaboration between local government legislators and state authorities, members of the Isuikwuato Local Government Area Legislative Council, led by their Leader, Hon. Onuobia Ndukaku Felix, paid a courtesy visit to the Abia State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna SAN.

Hon. Onuobia explained that the essence of the visit was to enable the councillors familiarize with the Attorney General and extend their congratulations on his elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) as well as his appointment as the state’s Attorney General.
He stated that since their inauguration, the councillors have been meeting with various political leaders in Isuikwuato, but decided to visit Uwanna as a key stakeholder and leader from the area.
“This consultation is part of our effort to strengthen political relationships, understand our leaders better, and build a united front for the development of Isuikwuato,” Onuobia stated.
The Legislative Leader also commended the Mayor of Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Hon. Chinedu Ekeke, for his steadfastness and focus in changing the narrative of governance at the grassroots. He further appreciated Governor Alex Otti for what he described as “unprecedented dividends of democracy” being enjoyed in Isuikwuato and across Abia State.
To buttress his point, Hon. Onuobia shared a personal story about a friend in London whose mother, a pensioner, now receives her monthly pension regularly.
“He called to say that if for nothing else, he’s proud of Governor Otti because his mother no longer calls for financial help — her pension is paid consistently and she’s comfortable,” Onuobia narrated.
Responding, Attorney General Uwanna SAN thanked the councillors for their visit and assured them of an open-door policy aimed at promoting engagement and collaboration. He acknowledged their goodwill messages on his SAN elevation and appointment as Attorney General, emphasizing that his office remains accessible for discussions that promote good governance.
Uwanna also commended Governor Otti for transforming Abia State from a state of disarray to one witnessing massive infrastructural and institutional renewal. He reminded the councillors of the recently passed Abia Local Government Administration Law 2025, which introduced innovative provisions such as virtual hearings for LGA legislative sessions.
He explained that the new law also strengthened local government involvement in security management, designating councillors as security officers in their respective wards.
“You now have a constitutional role in ensuring safety within your wards. Be proactive, and escalate any issue beyond your capacity to the right authorities,” Uwanna charged the councillors.
Speaking further, the Attorney General emphasized that Governor Otti’s administration is making deliberate efforts to develop Isuikwuato through ongoing road projects and infrastructural development.
“Governor Otti loves Isuikwuato. His commitment to your roads and community development speaks for itself. I urge you to support his vision and help amplify the positive transformation stories,” Uwanna said.
Councillors who participated in the visit include Hon. Ihekwuaba Louis Chibuzo (Deputy Leader), Hon. Adele Destiny Chibuike (Majority Leader), Hon. Ahia Udodirim Jude (Minority Leader), Hon. Ibeaja Onyekachi Emmanuel (Chief Whip), Hon. Ezelu Chima Igwe, Hon. Oloko Michael Nnodumele, Hon. Solomon Uchechukwu Nwaoha, Hon. Okeoma Peter Onyekachi, and Hon. Okechukwu Chima.
