The Russia national football team has been excluded from competitive European football since UEFA extended their ban in April 2023.
This has led to a series of friendlies against AFC and African teams, such as Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, and Iraq, to maintain international exposure.
Russia enters the match in strong form, having secured two convincing 5-0 victories in their most recent friendlies.
First against Zambia on March 25, 2025 and another against Grenada.
Anton Miranchuk and Tamerlan Musaev have been key for Russia dominating these warm up games.
Nigeria preview
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been dominant recently and been producing world-class talent.
Nigeria comes into the game with momentum, having secured a 2-1 victory over their arch-rivals, the Black Stars of Ghana.
They also clinched the Unity Cup title on May 31, 2025, defeating Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz 5-4 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
Nigeria’s squad has star-studded, with players like Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman but won’t be available for the clash against Russia .
However, their coach Karpin acknowledged the Super Eagles are still dangerous without key players.
Time and where to watch Russia vs Nigeria
The match between Russia and Nigeria kicks off on June 6, 2025, at Luzhniki Stadium the site of the 2018 FIFA World Cup final.
The game will kick of at 8 PM Nigeria time.
