A powerful political wind is sweeping through Abia State as Hon. Dr. Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa, a senior legislative aide to the President of the Senate, officially stormed the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with resounding support from his constituents and party stakeholders.
Ukwa, who hails from the Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area, was formally presented to the State Executive Council of the APC in a high-profile gathering that drew notable figures from across the country, including supporters who traveled from Lagos and beyond to stand by him.
The event, held at the APC State Secretariat, marked the completion of Ukwa’s integration into the party, having fulfilled the traditional grassroots-to-state registration process that began in his ward and was ratified by the LGA leadership in Ohafia.
APC State Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, while addressing the press, praised Ukwa’s dedication and grassroots reach, noting that his entry is a major boost to the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“From the testimonies of leaders from Ohafia, it’s clear Ukwa is not just a young man joining APC — he is a force who is already touching lives. People flew in from Lagos to stand with him. That speaks volumes,” Ononogbu stated.
He advised Ukwa to immerse himself fully in the party’s activities and contribute meaningfully to its growth and image.
“If he eventually wants to run for office, we’ll ensure a level playing field. But for now, I encourage him to continue his impactful work and bring more people into APC,” he added.
In his remarks, Dr. Ikenna Ukwa didn’t mince words about his mission. He declared his team’s commitment to mobilizing Abians from the grassroots and strengthening APC’s political machinery ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We didn’t come empty-handed. We’ve come with our results, with our people, and with a promise: we will go to the grassroots, mobilize, support the party physically and financially — and ensure APC wins Abia State in 2027,” Ukwa said.
He further pledged loyalty to the party’s leadership and promised to work in synergy with both state and national leaders to rewrite Abia’s political history.
“We’ve promised Mr. President that Abia will fall to APC in the next election — and we are here to fulfill that mandate,” he asserted.
With the dramatic entry of Dr. Ukwa into the APC fold and his fiery ambition to capture the state for the ruling party, Abia’s political landscape is clearly on the verge of a significant shift.
