The Niger Delta Freedom Fighters have issued a strong warning to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the Federal Government over the political crisis in Rivers State. They threaten to sabotage oil installations if the state’s allocation is not released. Read full details here and watch video below;

Tensions in Rivers State have escalated as the Niger Delta Freedom Fighters (NDFF) issued a stern warning to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the Federal Government over the ongoing political turmoil in the state.

In a viral video attached to this report, the Niger Delta Freedom Fighters (NDFF), a militant group in the oil-rich region, accused Wike of attempting to destabilize Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration despite having completed his uninterrupted eight-year tenure as governor of Rivers State. They warned that if the state’s allocation is not released, they would resort to sabotaging key oil installations across the Niger Delta.

The militants, in their statement, questioned Wike’s alleged interference in the governance of Rivers State, emphasizing that he enjoyed a full two-term tenure but is now intent on disrupting Fubara’s administration.

“Wike ruled Rivers State for eight years without interference. Why can’t he allow Governor Sim Fubara to govern in peace? We are watching closely, and we will not sit idle while he manipulates the system to cause political instability,” the Niger Delta Freedom Fighters stated.

The Niger Delta Freedom Fighters accused the Federal Government of withholding Rivers State’s allocation to frustrate the governor, describing it as an act of economic sabotage against the people of Rivers and the Niger Delta.

The NDFF further warned that should the Federal Government fail to release Rivers State’s funds, they would embark on a large-scale disruption of oil production activities in the region.

“If they continue to deny Rivers its rightful allocation, we will cripple the oil sector. We know where to strike, and we will not hesitate to act. The wealth of this nation comes from the Niger Delta, yet our people continue to suffer. Enough is enough!” they declared.

This latest threat has sparked concerns about potential disruptions to Nigeria’s oil production, a sector that remains the backbone of the country’s economy. Security agencies are yet to respond officially to the group’s warning.

As tensions rise, stakeholders within Rivers State and the Niger Delta have urged both the Federal Government and Wike to avoid actions that could plunge the state into chaos. Political analysts argue that if left unaddressed, the situation could escalate into a full-blown crisis that could affect the nation’s economy and security.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has yet to make an official statement regarding the threats, but sources within the state government confirm that efforts are underway to resolve the ongoing political impasse.
