CONFUSION: EFCC Counters Yahaya Bello, Reveals How the Former Governor Was Arrested

The EFCC has refuted claims by former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello that he voluntarily surrendered to their office. The agency revealed how they arrested the former governor in a midnight sting operation in Lokoja. READ MORE INSIDE;

In a dramatic twist, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  has contradicted claims by former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, regarding his encounter with the anti-graft agency. While Bello’s media office asserted that he voluntarily honoured an invitation by the anti corruption agency, the commission has revealed that the former governor was actually arrested during a covert midnight sting operation in Lokoja.

According to reliable sources from the agency, Bello was apprehended in the dead of night after being trailed by operatives. “The former governor was not acting out of his own volition. He was tracked and arrested by our operatives in Lokoja,” a source close to the matter disclosed.

This revelation directly challenges the earlier statement from Ohiare Michael, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, which claimed that the ex-governor had willingly appeared before the EFCC after consultations with his family and legal team. The statement also emphasized Bello’s respect for the rule of law and his commitment to clearing his name in ongoing investigations.

However, the anti cprruption agency has made it clear that the former governor’s appearance at their Abuja headquarters was not voluntary, as previously portrayed. Yahaya Bello is currently under investigation for various alleged financial misconducts during his tenure as governor of Kogi State.

The unfolding events have created confusion around the circumstances of the former governor’s arrest, with the anti corruption agency set to release further details about the case.
