Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing construction of the Umuahia Mega Bus Terminal, a landmark project aimed at modernizing the state’s capital. After inspecting the site on Sunday, September 15, following a church service, the governor commended the contractor for maintaining the construction timeline while making key suggestions for improvement.
Governor Otti noted that the Umuahia Mega Bus Terminal project is modeled after the Oshodi Transport Terminal in Lagos, which has significantly improved the city’s transport system. The new terminal will house essential features such as bus and railway connections, shopping centers, hotels, and recreational facilities. “The idea is to make Umuahia a well-organized capital city and eliminate the scattered parks,” the governor explained.
He emphasized that while the Umuahia Mega Bus Terminal may not immediately yield financial gains, its long-term impact will be transformative. “The terminal will not only decongest the city but also attract businesses, boost tourism, and elevate Umuahia’s status as a regional hub,” Otti added. The project also aims to enhance traffic flow and urban aesthetics, aligning with Otti’s broader vision for sustainable development in Abia State.
