Tigran Gambaryan: Binance Seeks Settlement, Urges Nigerian Government to Release Detained Executive

“Binance pleads with the Nigerian Government to release its detained executive, Tigran Gambaryan, and resolve all alleged past issues through constructive dialogue, following his court appearance amid health concerns.”

Binance Holdings Limited, a leading cryptocurrency trading platform, has expressed its willingness to resolve any alleged past issues with the Nigerian Government, calling for the release of its detained executive, Tigran Gambaryan.

On Tuesday, Binance urged the Nigerian authorities to allow Tigran Gambaryan, who was arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday for alleged money laundering, to return home. During the court proceedings, Gambaryan appeared visibly distressed and was denied a wheelchair, entering the court on crutches and in apparent pain. His lawyers filed a new bail application on medical grounds, citing restricted access for trial preparation, but the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) opposed the request.

Binance condemned the Nigerian Government’s decision to deny Gambaryan a wheelchair, describing it as mistreatment. “A video circulating shows the mistreatment and pain he’s enduring,” said a Binance spokesperson. “The judge ordered that Tigran be allowed to use a wheelchair, with the bail hearing continuing on September 4th. We are sharing an official statement from Binance on this matter.”

The company expressed deep concern over Tigran Gambaryan’s declining health and the potential long-term effects of what it called an “unjust detention.” Binance emphasized that it was not necessary for Nigeria to keep Gambaryan detained in order to settle any alleged past issues.

“Our recent resolutions with Brazil and India demonstrate how historical issues can be resolved through constructive dialogue and adherence to legal standards,” the spokesperson added. “This is the international standard of doing business.”

Binance’s plea comes amid escalating tensions between the cryptocurrency platform and Nigerian authorities, highlighting the need for diplomatic engagement and a swift resolution to the ongoing dispute.
