Kogi State Government has strongly refuted rumors of Governor Ahmed Ododo defecting to PDP, reaffirming his loyalty to APC and calling the claims baseless propaganda.
The Kogi State Government has dismissed rumors suggesting that Governor Ahmed Ododo is planning to defect to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The speculation arose after the governor was seen attending an event alongside opposition members, fueling unfounded reports of a potential party switch.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, labeled the rumors as baseless, accusing those “still lamenting their losses in court” of spreading false information. Fanwo emphasized that such claims were the work of individuals desperate to undermine the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leadership in the state.
“The falsehood being circulated stems from the imaginations of those who have failed at the law courts and are now seeking backdoor entry into the APC,” Fanwo stated.
He clarified that the governor attended the wedding of the daughter of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, a non-partisan event also graced by Vice President Kashim Shettima and governors from various political parties. The government highlighted that Ododo’s recent victory at the Supreme Court, where the appeal by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate Muritala Ajaka was dismissed, further solidified his position within the APC.
The statement assured the people of Kogi State that Governor Ododo remains a steadfast member of the APC and is committed to the party’s progress both within the state and nationwide. It also urged the media to uphold the principles of journalism by avoiding the spread of unfounded lies.
