BREAKING: Adamawa Gov. Fintiri Wins Binani At The Supreme Court | READ MORE

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa state, has been affirmed by the Supreme Court as the duly elected Governor of the state.

Ruling on Wednesday on the appeal filed by Aisha Dahiru, also known as Binani, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last election, the five-member panel of the supreme court led by John Okoro, said the matter was dismissed for lacking merit.

The court also condemned the conduct of the state former Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Ari, who earlier declared Binani winner of the election, describing it as irresponsible and criminal.

Okoro noted that the exclusive power to announce election results lies with the Returning Officer and not the REC to avoid chaos and anarchy.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as winner of the March 11, 2023 gubernatorial polls.

His victory was, however, challenged in court by Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
