I Never Took Bribes For Employment – FCC Chairman, Dankaka Says | READ MORE

The chairman of Federal Character Commission (FCC) Dr. (Mrs) Muheeba Dankaka has denied accusations that she took bribes to give jobs in the Commission.

She made the denial when she appeared before the ad hoc committee of the House of Representatives.

The Ad Hoc Committee is probing, among other things, employment racketeering and gross mismanagement of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS among government agencies.

In the course of its investigation, the committee has been inundated with allegations of job racketeering in the Federal Character, Commission, FCC involving Mrs. Dankaka, the Commission chairman.

One Haruna Kolo, a desk officer in the commission who has been repeatedly fingered by victims of the job racketeering as the link man who collects money from the innocent victims had appeared before the committee to state that he worked on the chairman’s directives.

Denying the allegations, Dr. Dankaka said the accusations were the expression of corruption fighting back as she swore by the Holy Quran that the allegations were outright falsehoods.
Said she, “I now believe the adage that says when you fight corruption, corruption will fight back.”

“I can take an oath with the Quran. Before I came here (FCC), I had made my name. I had made my money.”

“All of them,” 7 FCC Commissioners, she claimed to be plotting against her, “are always in my office.” “But I told them I cannot do what they wanted me to do.” Before I got to this place, they were selling slots, she alleged.

“The place was like a marketplace. You can find out from people that live in Abuja if I am lying”, she told the ad hoc Committee.

Dankaka went further to say, “They were going round from one place to the other with some fake commissioners.” “I sent letters to all the MDAs that if they do not see my signatures, they should not honour it. I am so surprised but I will come back to that.”

“I have 37 commissioners. I wish all of us were here, former governor, deputies, professors, if they were here they would testify to it, they are all by my side. I have 30 and they have seven. I stood my ground, period,” she stated.

Meanwhile, disturbing revelations have continued following the House of Representatives’ investigation into job racketeering in ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) and the abuse of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information Service (IPIS)

The Committee has uncovered corrupt practices among government officials. Some of them have confessed to receiving money from unsuspecting job seekers in exchange for jobs.

The Committee led by lawmaker, Yusuf Gagdi, APC, Plateau discovered that top staff of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), an agency charged with the responsibility of ensuring fairness, equity, transparency, and accountability in the sharing of federal vacancies have been indicted in the alleged racketeering.
