Police Finally Speaks On The Kidnap Of “Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki”

A popular native doctor in Anambra State and an indigene of Oba in the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state, Chinedu Nwangwu, popularly called “Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki” was on Sunday kidnapped by some yet-to-be-identified assailants.

The native doctor, who is popularly known for displaying his wealth and power on social media was said to have been kidnapped from his hotel, Triple P Hotel, Oba, late on Sunday.

It was also gathered that two of his security guards were shot dead during the attack, after which he was whisked away and his whereabouts were yet unknown.

“Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki na Oba was kidnapped last night at around11.30pm in his hotel and two of his security men were shot dead,” a source said.

Although the details of the incident were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, adding that it happened around 11.30pm on Sunday.

Meanwhile, controversy has been trailing the whereabouts of the abducted native doctor as some of his fans, on Monday, claimed that he had been released.

They posted a video on social media, claiming that the native doctor had been released from captivity.

But when contacted by our correspondent, the state police spokesperson, Ikenga, maintained that there was no news of the return of the native doctor yet.

“I don’t have such information of his release before me. All I know is that operatives of the command have been ordered by the state Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, to immediately go after the kidnappers.

“CP Adeoye has ordered that operatives go after his abductors and ensure his release,” Ikenga added.
