EXPL0SIVE: Abia PDP In Tr0uble, Owing Secretariat Staff As Funds Dries Up | READ DETAILS
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has been in power for over two decades in Abia State, is in a deep tr0uble owing to their alleged inability to pay salaries of workers at the party’s state secretariat for over six months.
Information made available to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER , has it that the PDP is finding it difficult to pay their secretariat workers as their funds has dried up.
AFNEWS gathered also that party leaders and sponsors are no longer interested in injecting money into the party which has handicapped them from paying workers.
Adding more to the predicament of the PDP, there are indications that aspirants who picked forms for the cancelled Local Government Area election are requesting a refund from the party.
ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER recalls that PDP prior to the 2023 general election, sold forms at the rate below;
- expression of interest form for presidential aspirants – N5 million; nomination form – N35 million, making a total of N40 million.
- Governorship: Expression of interest form (N1 million); nomination form (N20 million); total sum (N21 million); Senate: expression of interest form (N500,000), nomination form (N3 million), total ( N3.5 million); House of Representatives: expression of interest forms (N500,000); nomination form (N2 million), total (N2.5 million); and House of Assembly, N600,000.

Expression of interest and nomination forms for the state House of Assembly election- N100,000 and N500,000, respectively.
Aspirants who picked forms and contested the governorship primary of the party (supplementary primary inclusive) are; Sir Ude Oko Chukwu; Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, Dr Sampson Orji, Senator Emma Nwaka, Dr. Chima Anyaso, Professor Greg Ibe, Chief Bob Ogu, Hon. Eric Opah, Mrs Ezinwayi Jonas, Okey Ahiwe, and late Professor Uche Ikonne.
Although the monies for the forms are paid to the national body of the party, a percentage is given to the state party which helps to run the party including paying workers at the secretariat.
