Why I Withdrew Case Against Wike – Guber Candidate, Magnus Abe Reveals His Fears

Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the recently concluded election in Rivers State, has revealed what prompted the withdrawal of his petition against the incumbent governor, Nyesom Wike.

Recall that Abe had petitioned the Governorship Election Tribunal contesting the declaration of Wike’s anointed candidate, Siminalayi Fubara as winner of the election.

Announcing the withdrawal of the petition, Abe in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Parry Saroh Benson, said he does not want a direct confrontation with the president elect, Bola Tinubu who has formed an ‘alliance with Wike and other members of the PDP G5 Governors’

“The dynamics of the politics have changed. Wike and the G-5 now have an alliance with the APC at the national level and that alliance affects the dynamics of what is happening in the state.

“Now, we looked at it that if we continue our battle in the court at this point, we will end up in direct confrontation with the President-elect, who has clearly by his body language and the alliance between the APC and the G-5, taken a clear position as far as the issue is concerned.

“If we continue with this battle, we will be continuing on our own and we will not be able to get any institutional support” the statement read.
