Isuikwuato/Umunneochi: How Amobi Ogah Defeated Hon. Nkiru Onyejeocha | WATCH VIDEO

The Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency Seat election is one election that was expected to be tough and interesting because of the individuals involved.

Representing that federal constituency currently is Rt. Hon. Nkiru Onyejeocha who is contesting for her 5th term in office and she is of the All Progressives Congress (APC). She has already spent 16 years in the HoR and would have made it 20 years if she had won again.

Another strong figure in the election is Chief Amobi Ogah of the Labour Party who happens to be the younger brother to another political gladiator in Abia State and Nigeria Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah. Ogah was the former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development.

Other prominent people in the race were the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) HoR Candidate Hon. Loveth Ofoegbu and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) HoR candidate Onyinyechi Rufus Obi.

Recall that during the 2019 HoR election in the federal constituency, Hon. Onyejeocha heavily relied on the support of the former minister Ogah to emerge as winner of that election by sweeping votes from Uturu axis of Isuikwuato LGA which consolidated the votes Onyejeocha had gathered from Umunneochi has base.

That consolidation made it possible for Onyejeocha to emerge in 2019 despite the agitation from Isuikwuato LGA that she has over stayed in that office based on a gentleman agreement reached by both LGAs.

Also recall that Amobi Ogah equally fought for the APC ticket in 2019, but was advised to drop his ambition and support Onyejeocha after his brother Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah emerged APC gubernatorial candidate.

But, the relationship between Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah and Nkiru Onyejeocha who are both of the APC fall apart over some party political interest. While Ogah was targeting to emerge as APC gubernatorial flagbearer in Abia State, Onyejeocha pinched her tent with High Chief Ikechi Emenike who has finally emerged the APC governorship candidate in Abia State after series of court battle.

The above made it impossible for Onyejeocha to gathered the votes she got in 2019 from Uturu that obviously made her emerge.

She has equally built more political enemies in her home base who believe that the HoR post should go to Isuikwuato LGA as to encourage equity and fairness. These people made it impossible for her to pull enough votes from Umunneochi.

While she was leading Amobi Ogah with little above 3000 votes in Umunneochi, Amobi was leading her with above 6000 votes in Isuikwuato LGA.

No doubt, the Peter Obi momentum also helped Amobi Ogah emerge the winner.

Basically, this election was mainly between Amobi Ogah and Nkiru Onyejeocha. MORE UPDATES COMING.
