INEC Is Trying To Disenfranchise Abians – IPAC Chairman Lament Non-availability Of Materials

Mr Ceekay Igara, the Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) Chairman in Abia state, has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has plans to frustrate Abians and disenfranchise them at the Saturday February 25, 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections.
Igara who is also the Labour Party chairman in the state, lamented that as at 12pm, INEC materials were yet to move to various polling units in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia state.
He noted that all efforts made to reach the Resident Electoral Commissioner, failed as he has refused to take calls put across to him, however he noted that INEC claims that they are having issues with funding vehicles to convey election materials which has made frustrated voters to leave the polling units back to their homes.
“It is very unfortunate that despite the level of job INEC has done to make this election hold, they are still frustrating people up till now” he said.
Igara warned that IPAC will not tolerate any attempt to disenfranchise Abia voters.
He called on the hierarchy of INEC to explain what is happening in Abia state where as other states “are already wrapping up election”.
All Facts Newspaper correspondents reports that though INEC officials arrived late to most polling units, election has commenced in few areas however some units in Umuahia south local government area are having challenges with the BVAS.
