2023: How I Will Tackle Multiple Taxation In Abia – Chima Nwafor
Engineer Enyinnaya Chima Nwafor, the Young Progressive Party (YPP) governorship candidate in Abia state for the 2023 election, has blamed the issue of multiple taxation in the state on the government’s inability to properly organise the system of tax collection which gives room for impersonators who rip Abians of their hard earned money.

Nwafor in an exclusive interaction with AF-TELEVISION noted that taxation is a legitimate means for government to generate revenue for development, however, there are necessary measures which needs to be put in place to avoid multiple taxation which traders, transporters and others are mostly affected.
According to Nwafor, his administration if elected, would engage technologies for the collection of tax. He affirmed that the current administration has started on technological system of tax collection, however, his administration will improve on it.

“with good technology and proper programs for our IGR, all this will be achieved and the issue of double taxation and touts will be a thing of the past“.
He harped on the need to provide the basic needs of life which will make Abians to willingly pay tax because they are comfortable.
Speaking on generation of revenue in Abia state he cited cashew fruits found in large quantities in Isuikwuato Local government area of the state which can be sold to companies and also set up a cashew processing plant to generate revenue.

He also mentioned planting of palm seedlings on thousands of hectares of lands which has never been cultivated. He said this will bring development to host communities, employ people and generate money for the state after some years.
Nwafor pointed at attracting investors to excavate kaolins found in commercial quantities in Ohiya area, rubber plants in Ukwa, which would in turn create wealth for the state.
“A place we are seeing today as a non economic area, will turn to an economic hub” .
“if you put all these together there is no way Abia state won’t generate N5billion in a month. If Abia people thinks it is not doable, they should try me as governor” he added.
