JUST IN: Court Declares Machina As APC Candidate For Yobe North

Bashir Machina has been declared as the rightfully elected candidate of the All Progressives Congress Yobe North Senatorial District.

Justice Fadimatu Murtala of the Federal High Court in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital pronounced the ruling on Wednesday.

This puts to rest the controversies about who emerged the winner of the All Progressives Congress in the zone. 

Senate President, Ahmed Lawan who has been in the National Assembly for 23 unbroken years had been in loggerheads with Machina for months over the ticket won by the later at the primary held in on June 9, 2022.  Recall Lawan had contested the presidential primary of the ruling party at about the same time as the senatorial primary won by Machina. The Senate president, however, lost to Bola Tinubu, a development that forced him to jostle for the senatorial ticket but Machina insisted that he won’t step down.
