FCT: IGP Sets To Tackle Insecurity, Give Orders |Read Full

Consequent to the insecurity crisis and threats that have trailed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali has ordered massive deployment of additional police operatives and operational assets within the metropolis and its environs.

In a statement from the force, he noted that the order was to solidify the security and protection of lives and property of its residents, critical national assets and vulnerable facilities as well as road users plying routes in and around the FCT.

The IGP had on Monday, August 1st, 2022 during the Force Management Team’s meeting at his office made the charge while receiving general security updates on the nation.

According to him, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, DIG Bala Zama Senchi, will supervise and management the deployment to ensure maximum security in the FCT as well as surrounding states with a high risk of attacks resonating from the threats being speculated on the news, as the Force does not and will never handle any information with kid gloves.

He however cautioned members of the public, especially, journalists to desist from disseminating information that is not verified as it would sabotage the efforts of the force in their bid to salvage the insecurity crisis witnessed in the country.

In the same vein, the Inspector-General of Police has assured Nigerians in general, and residents of the FCT in particular, of their safety and security, while urging them to go about their lawful duties without fear of attacks.

He reaffirmed that the leadership of the police force will continue to deploy intelligent gathering and cutting-edge technology to decimate criminal elements across the country.
