BREAKING: Again, Buhari Returns Signed Electoral Act To Senate | READ WHY

President Muhammadu Buhari, has again requested the National Assembly to make an amend to the recently signed Electoral Act 2022.

This was contained in a letter addressed to the Senate and read at Tuesday, March 1, plenary by senate president , Ahmed Lawan.

According to the letter, Buhari is seeking for section 84 (12) which has to do with the resignation of political appointees before party primaries o be deleted entirely.

He argued that the provision of the section was undemocratic and amounted to the disenfranchisement of political appointees.

Meanwhile, Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act restricts serving political appointees from voting or being voted for during party primaries without first resigning their current positions.
