The Senator representing Zamfara Central, Hassan Mohammed Gusau, has tendered a letter to the senate, noting his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The letter was read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, during plenary on Tuesday, June 29,
In the letter, Gusau attributed his decision to the alleged factionalisation and collapse of internal democracy in the Zamfara State chapter of the PDP.
He however did not reveal his next choice of political party. According to him, he will make his decision on what party he hopes to join known in due course.
Gusau said:
“My decision is necessitated due to the collapse of internal democracy and factionalisation of the party from ward levels in Zamfara State.
“Further decisions on political movement and party affiliations will be communicated to this chamber in due course.”
Gusau’s resignation from the PDP, comes less than two days after the Zamfara state Governor, Bello Matawalle defected from the PDP to the APC.
