The Abia State Government has commenced the deduction of N30,000 from Abia State University (ABSU) student’s fees.

Following the stir caused by a ‘pandemic fee’ imposed on the students, during the tenure of the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Uche Ikonne, the Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, PhD, volunteered to pay all Abia students in the state university the sum of N30,000. He however directed that the same amount be deducted from the student’s tuition fees.

Meanwhile, Parents /Guardians of ABSU Students, have continued to express gratitude to the governor for the N30,000 relief package to Abia students.

Speaking to the media, some of the parents whose wards have benefited from the package, said the governor’s action is highly commendable, adding that the gesture  is a very big relief to them considering that the University has close to 30,000 regular students ,which if sum-up will amount to about #900,000,000(Nine hundred million naira).

The parents further noted that the relief is an immeasurable sacrifice by the Okezie Ikpeazu led administration.
