2Baba Speaks on Separation from Annie Idibia: “Living in Bondage Is Real”
Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has finally opened up about his widely discussed separation from his wife and longtime partner, actress Annie Idibia.
In a candid recent interview, the African Queen hitmaker described the end of their marriage as deeply painful, yet ultimately necessary for both their emotional well-being.
Reflecting on their journey, 2Baba acknowledged that while their relationship had been meaningful and filled with effort from both sides, it reached a point where staying together would have meant living in emotional captivity.
“We gave it our best,” he said. “Why we’re no longer together isn’t something I want to dive into, but we have our understanding. She’s an amazing woman, but what we once had just wasn’t there anymore. I don’t want to go into details.”
He also revealed that Annie made efforts to repair the relationship, but some issues were simply irreparable.
“I believe she genuinely tried to fix things. But if something is beyond fixing, I don’t think anyone should force it. Only those in the relationship truly understand what’s going on. You shouldn’t torture yourself or let society dictate your emotions.
This thing called ‘living in bondage’ is real many people die sad trying to keep up appearances. If it’s clear two people can’t make it work anymore, no one should be forced to stay.”
2Baba and Annie’s relationship had long been in the public eye, marked by both love and challenges. The couple officially announced their divorce earlier this year. Not long after confirming the separation, 2Baba proposed to his current partner,Natasha Osawaru.
