A former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mike Ejiofor, on Monday, April 19, stressed on the need to address security challenges facing Nigeria before the 2023 general elections.
Ejiofor while featuring on Channels Television, warned that the general elections may not hold come 2023, if the rising insecurity continues in the country. He added that the current challenge of insecurity, may lead to anarchy and crisis if not tackled urgently.
“If we don’t get these things right before 2023 elections, if we don’t get these things sorted out, the various security challenges in the various geopolitical zones, I can assure you that there won’t be elections.
“There will be a crisis in this country, there will be anarchy. We need to sort out this thing before 2023.
“Let us talk about this country before talking about elections. If we continue like this, there won’t be elections in 2023 because of series of agitations” Ejiofor said.
This is coming as the country continues to record series of challenges ranging from kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, and attacks on security personnel and stations.
