A ₦15 billion mechanised farming project is coming to Ukwa West. Backed by German partners, the project promises jobs, agro-growth, and sustainability. Read full!

Abia State’s agricultural sector is set for a major boost as Ebulu Farms Limited, led by Germany-based Nigerian Earth Activist, Prince Anthony Azubuike, prepares to launch a 300-hectare mechanised farming project in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.

In a statement released to journalists on Wednesday, Prince Azubuike, who serves as the company’s Managing Director, revealed that all arrangements had been finalised with German technical partners, who, according to him, were already on ground in Nigeria to kick off operations.

The large-scale initiative will focus on mechanised agriculture, including the production of fish feed, poultry feed, fertilisers, flour, and other agro-products. It will also feature tomato farms and a processing plant for locally made tomato paste, contributing to food security and import substitution in Nigeria.

Another major component of the project, the Managing Director continued, involves the cultivation of poponia stem cell trees, known for their fast growth cycle and wide usage in the paper and timber industries. This agroforestry effort aims to provide an eco-friendly alternative to deforestation and promote sustainable resource management.

“This project will create jobs for youths across Abia State and offer meaningful alternatives to pipeline vandalism, which some have turned to due to economic hardship,” he said.

Prince Azubuike, a renowned Earth activist with over 35 years of experience in environmental management, emphasized that the project aligns with his lifelong fight against climate change, pollution, and environmental degradation.

With its focus on sustainable agriculture, rural development, and environmental conservation, the Ukwa West mechanised farming project is expected to boost local employment, drive agribusiness growth, and serve as a model for climate-smart agriculture in Nigeria.
